Hi,

My name’s Richard, and if you’d told me years ago that I’d end up building things online for a living, I would’ve laughed and carried on making tea. 

I’ve been married to Melanie for more than three decades now. She still manages to surprise me in the small everyday ways, which is probably the secret to surviving that long together. Our kids are grown, gone, and busy living their own lives now, so the house is now a lot quieter that feels oddly comfortable.

We weren’t always in Florida. We started out in the UK, the kind of place where the sky can turn dark before you’ve finished your breakfast. 

In 2010 we packed our lives into a travel container, picked up our little dog Lilly, and flew across the ocean. No real plan waiting for us on the other side, just a gut feeling that it was time for something different.

Once we were here, I found myself staring at the ceiling more than I care to admit, wondering what on earth I was going to do next. Then one night, while flicking through TV channels, I saw this overexcited bloke on TV surrounded by cardboard boxes, talking about selling on eBay as if he’d discovered buried treasure. It was ridiculous. It was cheesy. It was also the nudge I didn’t know I needed.

A week later I was listing anything I could ship without it breaking. I sold CDs loaded with PDF books. Small flying helicopters I was buying from China. Sunglasses that looked like they belonged in an early 2000s music video. It wasn’t organised. It wasn’t glamorous. But it was movement, and movement is a powerful thing when you’re trying to figure yourself out.

Then I ended up in the world of tiny Adsense sites. People kept talking about them like they were a secret shortcut. So I built a few. They ranked well, did their thing, and kept me busy, until Google decided to rearrange half the internet overnight and wiped the lot of them out! That one knocked the wind out of me, but it pushed me toward the next thing: building email lists. And that… well, that felt different. It felt like I actually had something I owned for once.

Over the years I’ve tested so many odd ideas that they’ve blurred into one long mental drawer inside my brain. Affiliate stuff, Amazon experiments, Etsy selling, Fiverr, random traffic strategies, even a search engine I proudly built but never managed to convince anyone else to use. Some of these things were fun, some were awful, and some were so stupid I still don’t know how I ended up doing them.

But there was one thing that I always felt at home with.

Creating things that help people.

Not hype, not fairy dust, not recycled nonsense. I mean real products built from things I’ve actually done myself. Things I tested, failed at, tried again, and eventually figured out enough to share with someone else who doesn’t want to repeat the same mistakes.

That’s the part I love.
That’s the bit that never feels like work.

I joke that I’m a baker because I’ve always got several pies going at once. If one cools down, another one is bubbling away. But the products I make for people, those are the ones I take the most pride in. They’re built from experience, from failures, from wins, from trial and error, and from all the messy bits in between.
